The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament is likely to look into the allegations against Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) chief Madhabi Puri Buch, according to a report in the Economic Times.
The matter was added to the agenda of the PAC after several members demanded an enquiry into the functioning and allegations against Buch, the report said citing sources.
Buch has faced a series of allegations from US short seller Hindenburg and Congress party regarding various financial transactions involving her personal businesses and income streams.
Recently, around 400 Sebi employees had protested in front of the headquarters of the regulator demanding Buch’s resignation and withdrawal of a press release earlier issued by Sebi refuting allegations of ‘toxic work culture’.
The PAC is headed by Congress leader K C Venugopal and has members from all prominent political parties.
